I just thought I would add my two cents on linguistic fonts. I have been
using Palphon for a variety of indigenous languages in North America and
siberia. It is a sort of all-purpose IPA and American linguitic font
with a large set of non-spacing diacritics, so you can put dots and
breves and all kinds of symbols above or below any letter. I downloaded it
from the University of Michigan ftp site after finding it using archie.
i use a Macintosh, but I think Palphon is also available as a Truetype
PCwindows font. It comes compressed in a bundle with a keyboard layout
and some user notes, and an additional font of less commonly used phontic
characters.
