Reply:
I read these words and I found myself wanting to respond. I
have chosen to remain away from the people I was born into because of
the path the Father Above led me to.
A day does not go by when I am reminded of my homeland. I sit in
class and the song of the Coqui takes me away to where my heart is.
The sound of the ocean brings memories of times laying on the shore
in Borriquen, amidst the people of the island. Or the vibrant colors
of flowers and the plant nation will bring me home to the rich green
land of my country.
At these times, I feel not a sense of loss but a sense of quiet
contemplation. Knowing that I walk the path the Father Above has led
me too gives me strength to continue on my journey. Knowing that I
can return to my homeland to be with my people helps me grow and learn
compassion.
I thank whoever wrote the above words because you helped me chase
away the homesickness that was weighing on me.
