PURPOSE This is a request for information on American Indian elder care.
We are seeking documentation in legal, medical, psychiatric, or
social matters of placing our American Indian elders in nursing
homes and group homes.
SCENERIO A family is currently in court litigation fighting to keep the
state from moving their elderly relative from an Amerian Indian
nursing home located on a reservation to a Non-Indian home off
the reservation.
ISSUE The "institution" of a nursing home is more "restrictive" than
a group home.
ARGUMENT The "environment" of the "American Indian" nursing home which is
located on the reservation, staffed with American Indians, and
housing American Indians is the less "restrictive" environment. Looking for something different? Search our site.
